Lamborghini recently revealed the Countach LPI 800-4, a revamped version of the original Lamborghini Countach to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the iconic supercar. The new Countach LPI 800-4 is a limited edition run with only 112 units being produced.
In terms of design, the new Countach LPI 800-4 pays homage to the original 1971 Countach but with a modern and futuristic take. The new Countach LPI 800-4 builds upon the iconic “boxy” silhouette with sharp, clean lines, carbon fibre paneling, rear positioned engine, scissor doors, and shark gills. The Countach LPI 800-4 will be available in a range of colors such as Giallo Countach, Impact White, Viola Pasifae, and Blu Uranus.
Inside the new Countach is a Lamborghini hybrid architecture featuring a 6.5L V12 engine paired with a 48V electric motor. The hybrid system produces a horsepower of 802 and allows the new Countach to achieve 0-100 km/h in just 2.8s, and an overall top speed of 355 km/h.
The original Lamborghini Countach was unveiled in 1971 at the Geneva Motor Show as a concept car. Stephan Winkelmann, the Chairman, and CEO of Lamborghini stated that the Countach is “one of the most important automotive icons” and that the new Countach LPI 800-4 “embodies Lamborghini design and technology” and “fully presents [their] philosophy.”
The new Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4 will retail for $2.6 million and will be limited to 112 units (supposedly sold out already), with the first cars being delivered in early 2022.
