Tesla Model S Plaid Reveal

Elon Musk recently held a delivery event at the Tesla factory in Fremont, California to reveal the highly anticipated Tesla Model S Plaid. The Plaid is the high performance version of their original Model S sedan and will the be fastest production car ever made.

The Model S Plaid is what Tesla calls “beyond ludicrous” with a range of 390 miles and a 0-60mph sprint of 1.99s. The tri motor, all-wheel drive system produces 1020 horsepower and can reach a top speed of 200 mph. The Model S Plaid also supposedly has an improved battery pack and improved charging speeds that allow up to 187 miles of range from just a 15 minute charge. Tesla was also originally planning to produce a Plaid+ version of the Model S that was supposed to have a range of over 500 miles, but was cancelled after Musk claimed that the Plaid is “just so good.”

The new Model S Plaid features an all new interior with the new centre touchscreen display and yoke steering wheel. The entertainment system in the Model S Plaid also has 10 teraflops of processing power, which is similar to current generation consoles like the PS5, and will allow you to play demanding titles such as The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 right from your Tesla. There is also an additional display behind the center console for rear passengers to enjoy.

The Model S Plaid is an important step for Tesla as they continue to feel pressure from competitors such as Porsche and Mercedes-Benz in the electric vehicle space. The Model S Plaid is available now and priced at $129,990, with the first 25 cars being delivered this week, several hundred being delivered in the coming weeks, and a thousand cars per week next quarter according to Musk.
