Sony’s New WF-1000XM4 Ear Buds

Sony has just announced the successor to their popular WF-1000XM3 earbuds, the WF-1000XM4. These are Sony’s latest flagship wireless earbuds that feature their fantastic active noise cancellation and priced to compete against similar offerings such as Apple’s AirPod Pros, Bose’s QuietComfort EarBuds, and Samsung’s Galaxy Buds Pro.

The WF-1000XM4’s have been redesigned and look quite different from their predecessors, according to Sony, they are 10% smaller than the WF-1000XM3s and now have an all matte finish. The carrying case for the earbuds has also been made 40% smaller and features a USB-C port and now supports Qi wireless charging.

The WF-1000XM4s improve upon the already amazing active noise cancellation that was found in its predecessor with the new V1 integrated processor that supposedly delivers noise cancellation performance similar to those found in premium headphones. The WF-1000XM4s also now ship with new foam noise isolation ear tips that create a tight seal to improve fit and isolate sound. The microphones in the WF-1000XM4s have also been improved to utilize beamforming technology to pick up your voice and make calls sound clear and crisp.

Battery life is also exceptional on the new WF-1000XM4s, Sony claims the earbuds can play up to 8 hours of audio with noise cancellation enabled, and 12 hours without. The case holds another extra 16 hours of charge. Lastly, the WF-1000XM4s have been updated to be IPX4 water and sweat resistant .

Overall, the WF-1000XM4s seem like a solid upgrade over the WF-1000XM3s and a strong candidate for the best pair of wireless earbuds on the market right now. The Sony WF-1000XM4s come in either black or light gray and are available to purchase now for $279.99.
