All New 2021 M1 iMac

The redesigned iMac has been talked about for some time now and this change is more radical than most people would have expected. Apple has been shifting towards the squared-off design recently and it was only a matter of time before the iMac received the change. The shock came when the seven different colours were unveiled.

The design of the new iMac is much more in line with their current products. Its design is thin (11.5 millimeters) and simplistic. Although, some feedback on its appearance is the chin is still quite large and the bezel is now white. This 2021 iMac will see a lot of upgrades to its performance due to the M1 chip. When it comes to the CPU and GPU, speeds will see an improvement of up to 85% and 100% respectively. Additionally, machine learning will be far superior to prior years, it’s expected to be 3x faster in this iMac model. The iMac will also have the ability to run iPhone and iPad apps. Its display will span 24-inches, and it includes a 4.5K Retina display with 11.3 million pixels, 500 nits of brightness, with over a billion colors. It’s 24″ but only slightly larger than the 21.5″ that was available previously, this is possible because of its efficient design and smaller bezel.

Other improvements come to its camera, microphones, and speakers. This is perfect for those conducting work from home, as well as other professional use cases. The front-facing camera is a 1080p FaceTime HD camera and is optimized by the in-house chip. As for the microphones, there will be a three-mic array with beam-forming and noise reduction which leads to a studio-quality experience. The audio will be impressive as well thanks to the six-speaker system with Dolby Atmos’ spatial audio.

Based on the specs and the information provided by Apple today, the iMac’s capabilities will outdo their previous versions drastically. The in-house silicon (M1) that is in the 2020 MacBook Air, the new 2021 iPad Pro, as well as this iMac, has given them the ability to make smaller form-factors that are packed with more power, making extremely efficient machines. Above are the two different specification options that will be available for pre-order as soon as April 30th, and will be available at retailers by the second half of May.
