Leica just launched their new Cine 1 premium laser projector, and I want one in my house on release day.
The 100-inch Cine 1 model produces 2500 lumens to project 4k images and is expected to sell for $7,900, while the smaller 80-inch model is expected to cost $6,900 and produces 2100 lumens.
Obviously, these are more expensive than Samsung and Sony competitors, which is expected from a brand like Leica. Both will be equipped with Dolby Atmos sound. The projectors stand 12 inches and 6 inches away from the wall respectively and to improve the quality of the image they will sell accompanying ambient light rejection screens between $1600-$1800.
While there is some competition from LG’s CineBeam, going for $2999 with comparable size and brightness specs, it’s still a pleasure seeing more high-end laser projectors on the market. Hopefully, in a few years, we’ll see this tech become cheaper.
The American release is expected Q4 2023 with earlier releases to Europe (Q2) and China (Q3).
