Porsche Taycan – Best New EV?

Porsche has released its first electric vehicles. This includes the Taycan 4S, 4S (Performance Battery Plus), Turbo, and Turbo S. Each of these cars is incredible and they vary in their performance. The performance, interior, and exterior of the car really make this one of the coolest new vehicles on the market. The Turbo and Turbo S models will be looked at a little more as well as just how this concept became has become reality.

The performance is what gets people excited and that is for good reason. The Turbo model is 625 horsepower and 680HP in launch control. Obviously, that’s just the equivalent as the electric motor is actually measured in kilowatts (kW). The top-performing model is 560kw for an insane 750HP in launch control. This is capable of 0-60mph in just 2.6 seconds which beats out the regular Turbo model by 0.6 seconds. The top speed of the Turbo is 260km/h which is 160mph.

Porsche’s network for charging will need some work as they are completely new to this segment. Although, their charging speeds are incredibly fast. It’s capable of a 270kw charge meanwhile Tesla can only charge at up to 150kw. But, Tesla has a greater network for charging stations across North America. The range on the Porsches is approximately 400 kilometers (249 miles) which is really impressive especially considering how fast the car charges to allow that sort of distance. They are able to regenerate 90% of the braking energy with their recuperating management technology, allowing them to have that impressive range.

Handling is another aspect that Porsche found success in. One cool feature is the rear axle steering which gives a smoother experience turning corners. Additionally, there is torque vectoring adjusting the brake balance which also helps on corners. There is also active adaptive aerodynamics that allows the spoiler to extend at speeds of 56mph, 99mph, and 124mph. Between all of these features as well as an air suspension that balances both comfort and performance, the handling experience is really impressive.

The interior of the vehicle is extremely futuristic. There are no buttons on the digital dash, it’s a quad display system. This includes a 16.8″ dashboard, a 10.9″ central panel and another one on the passenger side, and lastly the center console. These allow you to alter nearly any setting you can think of. Other features that make for a very nice experience are its active traffic jam assist, lane change, night vision, and surround-view parking. The interior is a beautiful mix of luxury and functionality that gives the driver total control and comfort.

Porsche has always been known for its attractive exteriors. It was said by Porsche that this model was designed to look similar to the 911. But by the looks of it, the Taycan resembles the Panamera more except with a more sporty design that comes from the 911 models. Some of the exterior features include air curtains as well as a futuristic charge port. The air curtains guide air over the wheel wells and through the vent, which in turn reduces turbulence. The charge port pulls upwards into the body of the vehicle, rather than outwards. There is a sensor that the operator slides their hand across which opens the port. The nuances that go into this car feel so futuristic but they still carry on the traditional style of the Porsche.

The Porsche Taycan is an electrifying car. The way it handles, it’s interior and its exterior are all easy ways to fall in love with the vehicle. But the technology in its design and performance is truly astonishing. The cost of the vehicle is into the 6-figures, and it comes as no surprise. But this unique Porsche will have no trouble selling. As it performs like a sports car, provides the sustainability that people desire nowadays, and may be the best looking EV on the market.
